Real Ale Phoenixx Double ESB ....

Tonight I will be drinking a Phoenixx Double ESB from Real Ale Brewing Company.  Twelve ounce bottle.  It is listed as a winter seasonal, with 7.2% ABV and 50 IBUs.

This beer poured with a very thick, cream colored head.  The beer color is a very nice looking darker copper.  I get a little citrus and some sweet caramel in the aroma.  The taste starts with some smoky roasted malt, segues into some sweetness, then develops into hops that give you some sour bitterness.  Soft mouth feel.  You are left with some bitter and smokiness in the aftertaste.  This beer has a lot going on in the flavor department, and is one of my favorites when it is available.
