Deschutes Red Chair ....

Tonight's beer is a Red Chair NWPA (Northwest Pale Ale) from Deschutes Brewery.  The twelve ounce bottle lists 6.2% ABV.  The Deschutes web site shows 60 IBUs.  It is a seasonal, available from January through May.

Red Chair poured with a small to medium, cream colored head.  The beer color is a lighter copper.  Aroma has some nice citrus, which seems to be between orange and grapefruit.  The taste has some definite citrus, but it is smooth and not overpowering.  Nice balancing malts.  Some bitterness kind of sneaks up on the back of your tongue as you sip.  Medium bodied.  Soft mouth feel.  Slight bitter aftertaste.  This beer has a near-perfect balance of citrus, bitter, malt and drinkability - smooth!
