This beer poured with a thick, rich brown head. Beer color is a dark reddish brown. Very little light passes through the glass when held up to the light. The aroma has coffee, chocolate, some smokiness and brown sugar. Medium bodied, or a little heavier. The taste starts off with some chocolate and malts, then transitions to some dark fruit and the higher alcohol. Finishes with some smokiness on the tongue which lingers for an aftertaste. Leaves some hints of caramel/brown sugar as well. Very little bitterness given the IBUs listed on the web site.
