Harpoon Rich & Dan's Rye IPA ....

Tonight I will be sampling a Rich & Dan's Rye IPA from Harpoon Brewery.  The twelve ounce bottle shows 6.9% ABV.  Their web site lists 70 IBUs.

Tonight's beer poured with a thick, creamy colored head.  The beer is cloudy, with a golden/orange color - I really wouldn't call this one amber, copper or reddish.  Aroma has some nice citrus; tangy and sweet but not bitter.  Maybe a few floral notes.  Taste is not as hoppy as the aroma suggests - some smooth citrus and pine.  Balanced; the rye seems to soften the citrusy hops.  Some caramel-like sweetness.  Pepper, dry and a little bitter towards the finish.  Slightly bitter aftertaste.  Another tasty IPA!
