Big Sky Heavy Horse ....

Today I will try a Heavy Horse Scotch Ale from Big Sky Brewing Company - a limited release.  The twelve ounce bottle lists 6.7% ABV.  20 IBUs are shown on the Big Sky web site.

Heavy Horse poured with a thin, fairly brown head.  Beer color is a darker brown, with a slight reddish tint.  The aroma has a lot going on - I seem to be getting hints of chocolate, caramel, molasses, a little sweet fruit.  The taste has some toasted malts, caramel, dark fruit.  A little bready.  Not hoppy or extremely heavy.  A hint of the higher alcohol.  Slight aftertaste that is reminiscent of the beer itself.  A nice, heavier and more complex beer but one you could probably drink a few of without feeling too weighed down.
