Avery The Reverend ....

Friday night and time for a serious beer: The Reverend, Belgian-Style Quadrupel Ale, from Avery Brewing Company.  10% ABV is listed on the 1 pint, 6 ounce bottle.  Their web site shows 24 IBUs.

This beer poured with a thin, tan head.  Beer color is a darker copper.  The aroma has dark fruit, fermented fruit, brown sugar, lots of molasses.  Sweet.  Also some yeast when you get your nose deep in the glass.  The taste is much like the aroma: sweet, brown sugar, molasses, dark fruit.  Some taste of the higher alcohol.  The aftertaste leaves you with a little grassy/metallic note on the tongue.  I really enjoyed this beer, but if you don't like sweet and higher alcohol, it is probably not for you.
