Stone 16th Anniversary IPA ....

Tonight I will have a 16th Anniversary IPA from Stone Brewing Company.  It is brewed with lemon verbena and lemon oil.  The 1 pint 6 ounce bottle shows 10% ABV.  The web site lists 85 IBUs.

This beer poured with a medium, creamy colored head.  Beer color is a lighter orange-ish amber.  There is some VERY fine sediment suspended in the glass.  The aroma is mainly hops; citrus (lemon, orange) and a very floral overall bouquet.  Citrus and pine are the predominant notes to the taste.  The pine is not overly sharp, more of a deep resinous evergreen; makes me think of the needles on a Christmas tree.  Some sweetness, caramel.  There is a kind of floral quality to the taste as well.  The alcohol really warms going down.  You are left with some of the piney bitterness on the tongue for the aftertaste.
