Narwhal poured with a thin, rich brown head. Beer color is a very dark, blackish brown. No light shows through the glass when held up to the light. The aroma has malt, brown sugar and a definite boozy quality. The taste is smoky and boozy. There is some bitterness, but it is hidden some by the alcohol. The aftertaste leaves you with a little sweet, bitter and smoke. I don't get as much cocoa as I normally do in a stout - this one whacks you with the smoky malt and alcohol. But I like it.
