Pyramid Outburst Imperial IPA ....

Today I am sampling an Outburst Imperial IPA from Pyramid Breweries.  Twelve ounce bottle shows 8.5% ABV.  The Pyramid web site lists 80 IBUs.

Outburst poured with a thick, almost tan colored head.  Beer color is amber, with kind of an orange tinge to it. The aroma is primarily citrus, and more lemon & orange than grapefruit.  There also seems to be a caramel-like sweetness.  Medium bodied.  The malt dampens the citrus/hops in the first part of the sip, then some citrus and pine comes in later in the sip.  There is some overall sweetness.  Some definite warmth from the higher alcohol.  Mild, smooth bitter aftertaste.  This is really what I enjoy in a good Imperial IPA - smooth, steady and flavorful.
